Mendocino County Election Results Released
Mendocino County Elections has released the official results from the June 7th Election! Of most importance to local voters, Measure U, which would have changed Fort Bragg zoning regulations to prohibit social service organizations from locating in the downtown business district, failed with 961 voting yes and 1172 voting no. This has left local citizens hanging for 23 days since so few votes were tallied on election night!
The other close local race has Keith Faulder, 12408 votes, squeaking our a narrow victory over Patrick Pekin, 12254 votes, to become the newest judge.
Measure V, also known as the hack & squirt legislation, passed with 16300 voting yes and 9870 no votes. Measure W, which would have made Mendocino County a charter county failed 13135 voting no and 11368 yes votes. While the counts are significantly higher, with almost 60% of registered voters exercising their rights, the outcome for these two measures was the same as the election night tallies.
Senator Bernie Sanders won the Democratic Presidential Primary, garnering twice as many votes as Hillary Clinton.
