PG&E Substation Damaged in Gunfire

FBPD.PatchSmallFt. Bragg police are still on the look-out for a suspect in a rather bizarre shooting incident that took place at the 100 block of Grove Street in Ft. Bragg shortly after 12 noon on October 19th.

According to an eye-witness, a man began to fire a gun at the equipment of the PG&E substation before escaping the scene on a bicycle. When Police arrived at the scene, they found 6 expended 12 gauge shotgun shells. A further search of the immediate area turned-up his bicycle, described as a GIANT brand bicycle and a blue FOX riding jacket. Both were located in an empty lot just above the north side of the old A&W Haul Rd. and across the way from the Mendocino Sports Club. The suspect is described as a white male, 20-40 yrs old, with shoulder length shaggy blonde hair. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a white T-shirt with a black logo on the back. Though no one was injured in the incident, police are considering him armed and dangerous.

According to Sgt Brandon Lee, officers did find a pack of Marlboro cigarettes in the jacket pocket and it still had the cellophane wrapper, so they are hoping with the help of a fingerprinting expert they might be able to draw a print and crack the case. If you have any information on this incident, you are urged to contact the Ft. Bragg Police Department at 961-2800 or call their anonymous Crime tip-line number 961-3049.
